RUMINA   ( roo - mih - nah )
"‘N.B’ will make the hairs on your arms stand up, or make you cry due to the naked emotions that are displayed in both the sound and lyricism." - Bunny Music review of debut single
Bio
After releasing only two singles from their debut EP, Botanica, Manchester-based duo RUMINA had been placed on Spotify's editorial playlist, 'Fresh Finds: Indie', Indie and Folk Radio's 'New Indie: 2021', reviewed by Bunny Music and has been played on Amazing Radio's show 'Amazing Afternoons' alongside artists who play an influence in their sound such as Crumb and Billie Marten. Other inspirations include alt-J, Radiohead, Okay Kaya, Phoebe Bridgers and Mid-Air Thief. RUMINA's music explores indie with elements of indie folk, indie rock and dream pop with an electronica influence. Their debut EP, 'Botanica', released on the 4th of June 2021, exhibits a strong identity in its use of texture and song structure. Vocalist, Lucy provides intimate and haunting performances that blur the line between serenity and anxiety, whilst the instrumentation accompanies her with intricate detailing from guitars, pianos and synthesisers. Driving drums are thoughtfully sprinkled throughout the songs, constantly pushing the momentum forward. Grappling with themes of mental health and trauma, RUMINA's music is intensely personal and emotional. Having written music and crafted their sound together for years, their first release, Botanica is a self-recorded project documenting their period of growth together as musicians both mentally and musically.
